Bursaries for Heritage Specialist Apprenticeship in Stonemasonry
10 November 2010, The Clothworkers Foundation has kindly provided £10,000 of funding to enable two trainees to undertake the 12-month long training as part of the new Heritage Specialist Apprenticeship Programme in Stonemasonry being offered by Stone Federation GB. This course begins on 24th January 2011.
Two bursaries of £5,000 each will be paid to two employers to support a trainee throughout the delivery of the programme which will include:
Attendance at the 30 days off-the job bespoke training at Fountains Abbey, North Yorkshire include the cost of training, trainees travel, subsistence and any tools and reading material
Additional on-the-job training
Assessment cost for the Heritage Skills NVQ Level 3
The funding is being administered by ConstructionSkills, but the selection process for this bursary will be undertaken by the Natural Stone Industry Training Group (NSITG), which will provide an industry-wide perspective. Submitted applications will therefore be evaluated by the NSITG who will decide upon the two successful recipients for the two bursaries. Consideration will be given to applicants who do not have access to other sources of grant funding for the Heritage Specialist Apprenticeship Programme.
