The skill

Solid Plastering
You will expect to work on both external and internal walls, floor and ceilings, either rendering the exterior of buildings or screeding interior features.

Fibrous Plastering

You will be responsible for creating often complex ornamental decoration such as domed ceilings and mouldings. These internal features were popular in both grander buildings as well as everyday buildings in villages and towns. So you can expect to be involved with conserving or repairing a variety of decorative features.

The person

You will get your hands dirty with this job but be careful about thoroughly prepare the background surface before starting your work otherwise you will not achieve that essential quality finish. Measuring volumes and surfaces is an part of a plasterer ’s day so if it helps if you are comfortably with maths and also climbing ladders! If you have a creative flare then fibrous plastering might be for you.
