Dry Stone Waller / Drystane Dyker
Dry stone wallers/dry stane dykers (in Scotland) repair and re-build existing boundary walls, field enclosures and unmortared masonry buildings, or build new walls in fields, mountains or even artistic structures or features within parks and gardens.
The waller/dyker works to the same building principles of constructing a wall without mortar, but responds to regional variations and uses local stone usually found or quarried close to hand. Wallers are usually self-employed or work in small teams.
