Nelson Project

30 September 2008, The National Skills Academy for Construction (NSAfC) provides centres of excellence for work-based learning and training on major construction projects.

The first heritage-led National Skills Academy for Construction test bed in the UK was presented for approval in September 2008. However, due to funding hold-ups the project start date has been delayed. The National Skills Academy for Construction will continue to work with the project, which will be centred on a collection of historic buildings owned by the Heritage Trust for the North West (HTNW) in the borough of Whitefield, Nelson, and includes a historic mill, associated weaving sheds and a church, which the HTNW plans to develop as a centre for traditional building skills.
