About Us
Indigenous natural stone provided the building material for the vast majority of Scotland’s pre-1919 buildings and indigenous natural slate provided the roofing material; therefore the main focus so far has been to address issues facing stone and the skills required to work and build with stone together with traditional lime mortars.
Other materials and skills are required to address the needs of the built heritage and Scotland’s devolved education system means that the delivery of training is different to that delivered in the rest of the UK. Therefore work continues in all areas to help address the skills needs of Scotland’s built heritage.
