Stonemasonry Skills Test under review in Scotland
03 November 2008, The stonemasonry skills test in Scotland is being reviewed by a steering group comprising representatives from industry and test centres, supported by ConstructionSkills.
The review has been requested by the Scottish Building and Apprenticeship Training Council (SBATC) as part of their rolling review of all apprenticeship skills tests in Scotland.
Two new pilot versions will be trialled in November 2008. Falling numbers in the pass rate of this banker-masonry-only skills test question it’s validity for many stonemasons working on Scotland’s stone-built heritage today. The new pilot skills test will address building skills required as well as the banker skills.
