Scottish Slate audit gets underway in Stirling
03 November 2008, The SSLG, in conjunction with Historic Scotland, Stirling City Heritage Trust and Studio Dreamworld, are surveying the conservation areas of Stirling to assess the volume of existing indigenous natural slate and that which will be required for roof repair and maintenance in these areas.
This survey will provide invaluable information for the necessity of indigenous natural slate for all of Scotland. This is part of the ongoing work of the SSLG’s indigenous materials group which is investigating the re-establishing the commercial production of slate in Scotland as well as other existing and potential sources of natural stone in Scotland.
