Heritage Skills CSCS Card Now Available

01 September 2008, Do you regular carry out conservation, repair, maintenance or refurbishment of the 500,000 pre-1919 buildings in Wales and want to gain the Heritage Skills NVQ Level 3 and also prove your competence to work in this sector with the new CSCS Heritage Skills Card?

If the answer is yes, then the NHTG in conjunction with the Construction Skills Certification Scheme has produced a Wales specific leaflet on how you go about this.

The CSCS Heritage Skills Card can be achieved via three routes: managed industry accreditation for experienced practitioners with no formal qualifications (available until September 2010); approved apprenticeship and conservation qualification; achievement of the Heritage Skills NVQ Level 3.

Cadw, the Welsh Assembly Government’s historic environment service has taken a major lead in this by endorsing the Heritage Skills NVQ Level 3 and supports the need for craftspeople undertaking conservation, repair, maintenance and restoration on heritage sites and pre-1919 buildings in Wales to be working towards the CSCS Heritage Skills Card by 2010.

English and Welsh language versions of the leaflet can be downloaded in PDF format and hard copies are available from: ConstructionSkills, Units 4 & 5, Bridgend Business Centre, David Street, Bridgend Industrial Estate, Bridgend, CF31 3SH.
